1. Make sure FTP.IFS, R3COMM.EXE and REGISTER.INF are in the directory which contains the FileStar/2 executable file (FS_v300.EXE or as otherwise named). If not, copy these files to that directory. If these files are in the directory, two new menu items, FTP Attach and FTP Connections, appear in the Drives menu if the IFS statement is found in config.sys.
2. Add FTP.IFS to the system config.sys file with the line shown below where X:\PATH is the drive and path to the directory in which the file FTP.IFS is stored:
IFS=X:\PATH\FTP.IFS
3. After adding this statement to the config.sys file, the system must be rebooted before the FTP IFS can be used.
Starting a FTP Session
Use the FTP Attach menu item to call up the FTP dialog.

Select a drive letter to use. The first available drive letter is automatically selected.
The URL List contains the current list of previously saved URLs. Either pick a URL from the list or enter a new URL. When a new ftp site address is entered in the top URL entry field, press Add to add it to the list that is saved. If an entry is changed, press Save to save it. If neither Add or Save is pressed, the URL is attached when Attach is pressed but not saved for future use.
The User ID and Password fields must be filled in. Many sites like hobbes require an email address as a password when logging on with 'anonymous' as the user ID. Add the email address for those sites. If the Anonymous check box has previously used to enter an email address, the password field is auto filled.
Press Attach to start the attachment of the assigned drive to the URL. Once attached, the URL and its first level subdirectories appear in the FS/2 drive tree. The directories will not show additional subdirectories until double clicked.
Once the URL files are read into the file window, use any of the FS/2 functions, such as ZipView to view zip files, Copy to download a file, View to load the file in FlexEdit, etc.
Note: Do not use Delete, or any write function, on a site unless it's your own.
Detach and stop the session with Drives->Disconnect after RMB clicking the FTP attached drive letter.
FS/2 may be closed while a FTP drive is attached and the attachment is not broken. The only way to break the attachment is to close it with the Drives->Disconnect menu item or close the R3COMM executable that is running in the background on the desktop.
If an attached FTP drive letter is present but for some reason R3COMM has closed and severed the link, restart R3COMM to clear the drive letter from the Drives list. R3COMM may be restarted by RMB clicking on the drive letter in the Drives window. Wait a second or so and R3COMM should have restarted. Then do a normal detachment to clear the drive letter use.
