Any directory or file object may be queried, including the root directory. To query a directory or file object, select either the directory or file to be queried and then select from either menu Directories->Query or Files->Query. The File Info dialog will appear and report the following information at the conclusion of data collection:

Operation
If the Include Subdirectories checkbox is checked, a query of a directory will include the total files and subdirectories of the directory in the size summation.
Other file objects may be queried without closing the dialog by simply clicking on (selecting) another directory or file if the Hold checkbox is not checked. If querying a directory, it is not necessary to wait for a previous query summation to finish. Selecting another file object will automatically abort the current query.
The Save Info pushbutton serves as a save button for either of two data states. If the button is labeled Save Changes, pushing it will save any changes that have been made to the attributes, title or subject. If no changes have been made, it is labeled Save Info and is used to save (or append) the file or directory data presented in the dialog to the file fs_query.log - which will be found in the FS/2 directory. In the latter case, it will appear in FlexEdit when the button is pushed.
If the EAs pushbutton indicates the presence of extended attributes for the file object, pressing the button will activate the EA View dialog. This dialog may be used to view or edit the extended attributes.
The Properties pushbutton is used to open the Properties dialog for the file object.
If this dialog is activated from within FileStar/2 and the file object is a file, the Edit and View pushbuttons will be enabled and may be used to edit or view the file with FlexEdit.
While querying a directory, the Close pushbutton converts to a Stop pushbutton which may be used to abort the directory summation.
