Windows

The Action Bar Windows menu item (Alt+W) has submenu selection options to open miscellaneous windows. set the current windows style, reset windows functions, options to activate most internal windows and to individually hide/restore the Action Bar menu and Toolbar from the main window.

There are five preset window styles available in FS/2. The Cascaded style is the initialization default. Thereafter, the mode in use at shutdown is restored upon the next invocation of FS/2. The windows Ring of the five styles has the following order. Click the links to view examples: Use the hot keys indicated to select a style from the keyboard.

A 'Last' window style pushbutton may also be configured in the toolbar. See Adding a last window style toggle to the toolbar. Pushing the button toggles between any two styles, the current and the last used styles.

File window styles may be toggled in a rotary fashion by pushing the window Ring pushbutton in the lower left corner of either file window, or by pressing F11/F12 to rotate forward or backward through the window ring. Pushing the Ring pushbutton with the LMB toggles the window ring forward; pushing it with the RMB toggles it backwards.

File windows may be resized and the size and position will be retained. Using the SIZE button in the Data Panel will reset the displayed style to the default settings for the mode.

If the Action Bar menu is hidden, the Title Bar context menu or the key combination of Ctrl+Shift+F1 must be used to restore it.

Action Bar Windows Menu

The menu items are grouped as follows:

The menu items perform the following actions:

OS/2 - Opens an OS/2 command line window in the current directory. DOS - Opens a DOS command line window in the current directory.
Text Clipboard - Opens a FlexEdit view of the text clipboard.
Message History - Opens the Session Message History dialog window.
Change Directory - One of several commands to open the Change Directory dialog window.
Select - Submenu with options to open or set focus to selected windows.

  Toggle Ring - Increments the ring of window styles (F11/F12).

  Reset Ring - Resets all window styles to default position and size (Alt+Shift+W).
  Reset Frame - Resets the frame window to default position and size (Ctrl+Shift+W).
  Reset All - Resets the frame window and all window styles to default position and size (Ctrl+Alt+W).

  Hide/Restore Menubar - Either hides or restores the Menubar, depending on the current state (Ctrl+Shift+F1).
  Hide/Restore Toolbar - Either hides or restores the Toolbar, depending on the current state (Ctrl+Shift+F2).
