Print

Default Printing

Printing is supported through internal print functions or by passing the file(s) to be printed to an external program of the users choice. The default action when selecting Files->Print on either the pulldown or popup menus, is determined by which method was last used. To change the default method, use the Print extended menu and select either Print... (internal functions) or Ext Print.

To assign an external print program, use the Print slot in the Setup->Settings notebook, Paths page 3_1. If the 'Print' External Program entry is left blank, the internal print interface is always used. You may configure 'PRINT.COM' as a simple external program or acquire and use one of the mode sophisticated programs available.

Hot keys and submenu options, Files->Print->Print... (Ctrl P), have been assigned to allow printing through the internal functions or through an external print program, Files->Print->Ext Print (Ctrl Alt P).

Multiple files may be selected for printing when using the internal print functions. The limit is 50 files. All selected files are spooled in one print job.

Using The Internal Print Functions

When Files->Print->Print... is selected (or Files->Print if it is the default selection), a Print dialog window is opened that permits selection of which installed printer to use as well as the printer font for those printers that are capable. Additional setup options allow selection of margins, inclusion of a header and/or footer (with a font different than the text body font), use of the file name as a header, adding a date/time stamp in the footer, adding line numbers to the output and optionally wrapping long lines. Available printer forms are also listed. The Job Properties dialog may be accessed from this dialog before commencing a file print.
