Fonts

The font in all primary display windows may be changed by using the WPS Font Palette or the Font page in the FS/2 Settings notebook. It is recommended that the FS/2 Settings notebook font tool be used since the FS/2 Font page usually results in tighter spacing of the file window lists.

If SciTech SNAP Graphics is installed, there are two optional environment variables that may be set in the system CONFIG.SYS file that will have a significant effect on the font size. The size of FS/2 dialogs will be directly affected.

By default the size of fonts used by SciTech SNAP Graphics is controlled by the default behavior that IBM GRADD drivers use (ie: automatic selection of large fonts based on resolution).

The following variables are supported: SET SDDFONTSIZE=[small | medium | large]

This option allows you to choose small, medium or large fonts. The default value if this environment variable is not set is determined by IBM's GRADD components. Recommendation is to not set this option.

The automatic selection of font dors per inch may be overridden by setting an environment variable in the system CONFIG.SYS file:

SET SDDFONTDPI=[96 | 120]

This option sets the logical Dots Per Pixel (DPI) setting used for matching logical font point sizes to pixel sizes. Usually you would use 96 DPI for small fonts, and 120 DPI for large. If this environment variable if not set, the default DPI value is determined by IBM's GRADD components and transitions to 120 DPI above 800x600 resolutions and to 96 DPI below that resolution. Recommendation is to set it to 120 DPI.
