Customized
FS/2 Window
The FS/2 application window may be customized in appearance through a variety of configuration controls. using the OS/2 Color and Font palettes or by using the color and font tools provided in the Settings Notebook. All window customization data is saved in the FILESTAR.INI file upon closing the application. Any changes made to the configuration while using the Settings Notebook are also saved upon closing the notebook. Additionally, the user may force a save by selecting the menu option Commands->Save Configuration.
NOTE: There may be times when it is desirable to close the application without saving the current configuration. To do so, use the window System Menu (upper left icon) Close w/o Save or the Commands->Close w/o Save option. This is especially useful when using FS/2 to swap out or rename the FILESTAR.INI file where, if the option is not used, the current configuration will be saved to the current named FILESTAR.INI file or the file will be recreated, using the current setup, upon closing if none exists.

Action Bar Menu
Foreground and background colors and font of the Action Bar menu may be set by drag and drop from the Color and Font palettes. All context menus inherit the colors and font of the Action Bar menu. The menu font may also be set using the tool on the Settings Notebook Fonts page.
The Action Bar menu can be hidden and restored by Windows->Hide/Restore Menu or hot keys Ctrl+Shift+F1. This is a viable option since all menu items are accessible from pop up menus (See Title Bar menu).
Toolbar
The Toolbar is fixed in position but can be hidden and restored by Windows->Hide/Restore Toolbar or hot keys Ctrl+Shift+F2.
The Toolbar can be modified by rearranging, adding, removing or creating new items. The item style may be flat or framed, with or without text labels.
See adding a last window style toggle item as an example of adding a predefined Toolbar item.
See creating an anti-virus Toolbar item as an example of creating a custom Toolbar item.
Window Arrangement
The Drives, Directories and Files windows are sizable and can be arranged with five predefined styles. Any one or all styles may be redefined by resizing if the windows are unlocked. Selecting a style is as simple as a hot key or mouse click. The view in both Files windows can be independently set to one of four views, also by hot key or mouse clicks.
Common colors are used for the Drives, Directories and active Files window. The color coordination of the windows assists in awareness of the active Files window. The OS/2 color palette will NOT change the highlight background and foreground colors of the Directories and Files windows. You may change these using the coloring tool on Color page of the Settings Notebook.
Colors and Fonts
The Color and Font palettes are available in the Action Bar menu (Setup->Palettes). Other color controls are located on the Settings Notebook, Colors tab. Fonts may be set by groups (windows, dialogs, menus, etc. on the Fonts tab of the Notebook. Colors and Fonts may be reset to default values using the Colors Default button on Settings Notebook page 2_2.

X:
Used Button and Subwindow
A different font may be set in any main window or, in the case of the Data Panel, any of its subwindows. The color or font dropped on the X: Used (where X: is the current drive) subwindow will propagate through the other Data Panel subwindows. A color or font dropped on any other individual Data Panel subwindow will stick, making it possible to set a different color or font in each subwindow or set the color and font in all subwindows with one color and one font drop.
To change the color or font of the buttons in the Data Panel, drop on the X: Used button and it will propagate through the other Data Panel buttons, as well as the buttons at the bottom of the Directories and Files windows. A color or font dropped on any other individual Data Panel button will stick, making it possible to set a different color or font for each button or set the color and font in all subwindows with one color and one font drop.
The Data Panel pushbuttons and subwindows dynamically scale to the font used in X: Used pushbutton and its subwindow. The width of the Name pushbutton/subwindow and the Message window is determined by the size of the other controls. To increase the width of the Name and Message windows, reduce the size of the font in the Data Panel as described above. The FS/2 window cannot be resized and reduced in width below the point where the Name window width is less than the average font width of about 4 characters.
Color Schemes
There are 13 fixed color schemes that may be used to configure the colors used in the main window. Use the Schemes button on page 5-1 of the Setting notebook. This button acts like a 'rocker' switch and will toggle forward or backward though the various color combinations. When a selected scheme is desired, press the Save button and save the scheme to 'My Scheme'. The user may then further adjust the colors if desired. The 'Gold' scheme is used in the screenshot at the top of this page.

Changing the Appearance of the Expand Control in the Directories Tree
The appearance of the Directories tree Expand control may be changed by using options in the Directories Window Options menu. Besides the default bitmaps, options are:
If the Custom option is used, the files fplus.bmp and fminus.bmp must be in the application directory. These are 15x15 bitmaps that the user may color in any manner. Red expand and green collapse bitmaps make an interesting combination. See the screenshot of the FS/2 window at the top of this page.
