Read Branch

Selection of the Directories->Read Branch menu item results in reading the files of the entire selected directory branch (the selected directory and all of its subdirectories) into the active file window. This is referred to as a Multiple Directory view. It is similar to the Add Dir option but the latter only reads the selected directory.

This option may be used multiple times to read two or more directory branches into the active Files window.

The Add Dir option may be used before or after a Read Branch to add individual directories (without subdirectories).

It is possible to read all directories on a drive into a Files window by selecting the Read Branch item with the drive root directory selected.

It is possible to read directories from different drives to the active Files window by using Multiple Trees moding.

The Show Duplicates function requires the use of either (or both) the Read Branch or Add Dir function to enable the Files->Compare->Show Duplicates menu item since files with the same name can only exist in different directories.
