Start Program - The startup window state may be set to Normal, Swap, Minimized or Maximized. The setting may be overridden with command line switches as described in the Starting FS/2 section.
Byte Format - The Bytes, Kilobytes and Megabytes check boxes are used to set the byte format used in all byte displays except for the following rules:
Note: FS/2 converts bytes into binary units (powers of 2) of kibibytes (KiB) and mebibytes (MiB), where one kibibyte = 1024 bytes, as appropriate for the display of such data. However, only a single letter abbreviation (K for KiB and M for MiB) is used in FS/2 to save display space.
Round Down Megabytes - Checking this check box will cause the MB display to not show fractional values.
Vertical Tree Spacing - OS/2 3.0 introduced very tight tree spacing. This option permits user adjustment of the tree vertical spacing.
Note: There is an anomaly with tree element vertical spacing in the OS/2 tree view. If folder icons are not used in the directories tree, tree element spacing is based on the character height of the font used in the directories window. If the height of the font used is less than the height of the '+/-' expand control box (15 pixels), then the control boxes start to overlap at less than the default element spacing of 2. In this case, FS/2 will increase the tree spacing at the end of a drive scan to prevent overlap of the expand controls. This causes a tree spacing transient which may be objectionable to some users. Use of tree folder icons will prevent this when using a small font.
Also note that the FS/2 custom '+/-' expand control box (white on dark blue) may be overridden by the WPS expand control when first clicked after startup. The APIs support use of customized '+/-' expand controls but fail to sometimes recognize that a custom box is in use. A workaround for this does not appear possible.
Swap Frequency - This control adjusts the display update frequency of the swap data. Set this value to zero to disable the swap display. When enabled, the swap display loops continuously though the swap data - but any message in the message window will override the data display. It will again show upon the next update once the last message is cleared.
Available Memory Warning - This control sets the threshold for FS/2 to issue an available memory warning. Set this value to zero to disable the warning.
Message Persistence - Most of the FS/2 messages are displayed in the Message window of the Data Panel. Warning and error messages persist for one or two times the persistence value, depending on the message. Most information messages are erased automatically after the persistence time selected with this control. Set this value to zero to disable most of the information messages.
