If desired, use the F9 key to toggle the notebook window parent between FS/2 and the Desktop window. When the parent is the Desktop window, the notebook window will be found in the Task List and will respond to activation like any other desktop window with relation to the 'z-order' of Desktop windows. When in this state and the active Desktop window is either the notebook or the FS/2 main window, pressing the F9 key again will revert it back to a child window and force it on top of the FS/2 window.
An OS/2 notebook consists of two principal elements, the frame window and tabbed pages. Prior to OS/2 version 4, there were both major and minor tabbed pages. Version 4 notebooks only have tabs on the major pages. A major tab page may have several pages which are tabbed in OS/2 Version 3 but have no tabs for selecting these pages in Version 4. Use the +/- control (upper right of each page) to flip pages.
This notebook is fixed in size. Each page consists of a dialog box of sufficient complexity to make resizing of the frame window and all pages impractical.
Keyboard input focus may be in either the notebook control (tabs) or the page dialog box. For reference, all dialog boxes fit within the colored area of the cover page. You may mouse click anywhere within this area to put the focus in the dialog box or outside this area to put the focus in a notebook control tab.
If the F1 key is used for help with the focus in a dialog box, help for the cursored item is retrieved. If focus is in a notebook control tab, this help page is presented. Each page has summary help available by pressing the page Help button.
Selecting pages with the mouse is the easiest way navigate the notebook and to flip pages. Simply click on the tabs or the +/- control. When a page is selected, input focus automatically goes to a default control on the page dialog box, usually the first selected item.
Selecting pages using the keyboard can be a little confusing at times. To flip pages, use Alt+PgUp/PgDn. To switch focus to and from the notebook control, use Alt+Up/Dn arrow keys. With the focus in a dialog box, use the Tab key to move the focus to the next control and Shift Tab to move it to the previous control.
